Finalists Announced for Inaugural Alabama Seafood Cook-Off

"We’re pleased to announce the finalists for our inaugural Alabama Seafood Cook-Off, to be held Friday, May 1, at the Southern Makers VIP Event at the E.A.T. South Farm in Montgomery.

Chefs Brandon Burleson (Voyagers Restaurant, Orange Beach), Miguel Figueroa (The A&P Social, Montgomery), Brody Olive (Spectrum Resorts, Gulf Shores/Orange Beach) and George Reis (Ocean, Birmingham) will compete for the state’s coveted top spot. The champion, in addition to receiving statewide acclaim for his accomplishment, will go on to represent Alabama in the 12thAnnual Great American Seafood Cook-Off (GASCO) later this year." The A&P Social and its Gulf Oysters featured on CNN

"Chef Miguel Figueroa served Murder Point oysters for the first time last week. He promoted the special offering on Instagram, and, to his surprise, crowds showed up.

"People loved the idea of supporting Gulf seafood, especially from Alabama," he said.

He had a few left over that he served to a party of three chatting over drinks at the bar with mignonette and cocktail sauce. They eagerly slurped them up, singing their praises in between gulps of wine.
